London, Feb 8(ANI): Nicole Richie has confided to her best friend Paris Hilton that she's terrified that the Dec. 11 DUI charges against her will put her behind bars.
The Simple Life stars - who are back on talking terms after a year's hiatus - met at Los Angeles' Mr Chow restaurant, and the hotel heiress was seen comforting her distraught pal.
"She was really freaking out. Paris kept telling Nicole not to worry, that everything was going to be fine," Femalefirst quoted a source, as telling Life and Style Weekly magazine.
Police had arrested Nicole, 25, in the early hours of December 11 for driving the wrong way along a California freeway. The star later confessed to officers she had taken the strong painkiller Vicodin and had smoked marijuana.
The former heroin addict has a previous DUI charge from 2002 and California law states that a repeat offence carries the mandatory jail sentence of five days. And if convicted, she would also have her driving license suspended for one year and be ordered to attend an alcohol education programme for a year-and-a-half.(ANI)
