| Hi There, Learning flash is really really really annoying, because those programmers that understand it, like Ali G or GlenRhodes.com, refuse to offer any assistance what so ever. I often post questions at actionscripts.org, and 90 percent of the time, no one answers my questions. Im trying to learn how to divide an image into x number of strips, and create mask layers for each strip. The strips can then be individually programmed and scaled, to give the impression of depth. This technique is used in racing car games. Im also trying to learn how to reproduce those effects you get at myspace with masking. I intend to add some real interesting code here, that people can just cut and paste into their own flash documents.

| These type of flash techniques require a lot of practice.
Some of that code is refined from a z-mapping tutorial, also part of the flash mario kart flash engine. I did the exercise by hand a year ago, and have been trying to keep the programming model the same.

| Well, im finally getting somewhere ,...
Its completely scalable and rotatable, and i just tell it how many boxes across and how many down i want. The myspace blinking box effect masks can be done with it, the objects can rotate about their center, and about the horizon mid point for games, and its fairly accurate.
Heres two samples : Method 11 - http://www.gooism.net/swf/MaskingSample1.swf Method 12B - http://www.gooism.net/swf/MaskingSample2.swf
